Investment Company Institute (ICI)
Washington, D.C.- based trade association for U.S. investment companies. Founded in 1940, membership in October, 2005, included 8,509 mutual funds, 659 closed-end funds, 147 Exchange-Traded Funds, and five sponsors of Unit Investment Trusts ICI's mission: to encourage high ethical standards; to advance the interests of funds, their shareholders, directors, and investment advisors; and to promote public understanding of mutual funds and other investment companies.
