Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts (ICFA)
educational branch of the Financial Analysts Federation, founded in 1947. The ICFA grants the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation to persons who have met certain professional qualifications. Essentially, candidates must serve a two-year apprenticeship and pass a series of three annual examinations about such topics as accounting, economics, ethical standards and laws, and securities analysis to obtain the CFA designation. The ICFA is headquartered at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia.
