another term for a manufactured home. Reference to the HUD code emphasizes that all new manufactured homes are required to pass an inspection promulgated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or HUD.
Example: The modern HUD-code home is of generally higher quality than the old mobile home and their reputation has been improved by their submission to government inspections.
