Dictionary of Computer and Internet Terms: honeypot
honeypot
a trap for people who tamper with computers maliciously through the Internet, just as a pot of honey traps flies.
A honeypot is generally a computer that is rigged to look more vulnerable than it really is, and to keep records of everything that happens to it. Honeypots serve several purposes: to catch individual crackers, to determine whether they can get into a network, and to observe how they carry out their attacks.
