go-between
intermediary between two people or groups who handles needed particulars with regard to the relationship. The intermediary typically has a vested interest that everything runs smoothly. The intermediary may arrange a compromise between the groups or just keep the lines of communication open. An example is when a supplier is introduced to a new customer by a go-between who receives a referral fee.
