Dictionary of Real Estate Terms: exclusive (agency) listing
exclusive (agency) listing
employment contract giving only one brokerage firm, for a specified time, the right to sell the property and also allowing the owner alone to sell the property without paying a commission.
Example: Graham gives Quick Sale Realty an exclusive agency listing on her house. If an agent of Quick Sale or any other brokerage firm sells the house during the time of the listing, Quick Sale is entitled to the commission. If Graham sells the house herself, no commission is earned.
