Definition of education savings bond

exclusion income from certain U.S. government bonds issued after 1989 (including Series EE bonds and Series I Bonds) used by an individual to pay qualified higher education expenses. Interest may be excluded from income, subject to a phase-out for middle- and upper-income taxpayers based on inflationadjusted ranges.
