DIP (dual in-line package)
a plastic case with two rows of pins (Figure 80), the way integrated circuits (ICs) were packaged in the early days of personal computers. Most ICs now come in smaller packages that mount on the surface of a printed-circuit board rather than by placing pins into holes.
