Dictionary of Marketing Terms: countermarketing
countermarketing
efforts to permanently reduce demand for a product or service that may reflect poorly on the product itself, such as efforts by a group to discourage the use of a product the group deems unhealthy or bad for society. It is unlike demarketing, in which one attempts to reduce demand without maligning the product. Political advertising targeted toward supporters of the opposing candidate uses countermarketing to reduce demand for that candidate.
