Dictionary of Marketing Terms: correspondence course
correspondence course
educational course conducted through the mail by a correspondence school. Correspondence schools teach a variety of subjects, including professional trades. The schools must be careful not to make guarantees as to employment after completion of a course. Many correspondence courses are sold through Space Advertising and inquiry-and-follow-up techniques. Correspondence schools frequently offer courses in areas where education in that subject is not otherwise available-for example, computer programming courses for people in rural areas. Various types of correspondence courses include high school- and college-accredited courses; self-improvement courses; and technical, scientific, and professional courses.
