Dictionary of Marketing Terms: color filter
color filter
colored screen-either blue, red, or green-used in photography to absorb certain colors and enhance others. By photographing an image through color filters, an image can be produced that reflects only one of the three primary colors that constitute the original image. These are called color separations and are used in four-color process printing. The blue filter is used to create the yellow negative, the green filter produces the magenta negative, and the red filter produces the cyan negative.
