Dictionary of Marketing Terms: cluster box
cluster box
group of individually keyed mailboxes serving a group of households. Usually located near a curb in front of the houses, it acts as a delivery center, enabling mail carriers to leave mail for several households in one place. Cluster boxes usually provide a special shared box for parcels and a slot for outgoing mail. The U.S. Postal Service hopes to replace house-to-house delivery with cluster-box delivery wherever possible.
