CICS (Customer Information Control System)
an extension to the operating system of IBM mainframe computers. CICS makes it easy to write programs to enable users to enter, retrieve, and update data on their terminal screens. For example, CICS is often used in point-of-sale systems, hotel reservation systems, billing systems, and the like.
