Dictionary of Marketing Terms: centralized postage payment
centralized postage payment
option offered by the U.S. Postal Service that allows mailers with multiple entry points to pay all postage due with a single payment instead of sending payment to each entry point with each mailing. An estimated postage amount is paid at the beginning of the mailing period and is adjusted according to actual postage usage at the end of the mailing period. To qualify for centralized postage payment, the Postal Service must be satisfied that the mailer's method of calculating the postage due is accurate.
