cease-and-desist order
In general:order by a court or government agency to end an unfair or unlawful practice.
Advertising:order issued by the Federal Trade Commission to stop a particular advertising practice or unfair method of competing that the commission feels is in violation of any of the acts that govern commerce and that fall under the agency's jurisdiction.
