baronial envelope
large envelope with a deep flap, normally used for official announcements and formal invitations (e.g., to charity balls or to banquets). Baronial envelopes are used in direct-mail promotions because the recipient will expect something important and worth reading inside. Standard baronial-size envelopes range in size from 3 5/8" X 4 11/16" to 5" X 6".
