Apache
a web (HTTP) server program used by many web sites on a variety of computers. It is an example of open-source software, where the source code is published and a variety of people make contributions. The first version was released in 1995.Within a year, it became the leading web server software. Apache is available from the Apache Software Foundation at www.apache.org.
