75% of Americans Not Banking Green
According to Javelin Strategy and Research, if everybody in America clicked on the “I’d like to receive a paperless bill” checkmark, next time they went online, we could save 687,000 tons of paper every year. Unfortunately, 75% of Americans still haven’t ticked that box.
The researchers found that green banking hasn’t caught on largely because banks haven’t found interesting enough incentives. I have a simple answer to that, offer a dollar or two discount on service fees. How many people aren’t checking that box because they feel as if they’re paying for a paper bill, and after paying fee upon fee upon fee, they need to feel that they’re getting everything that they’re paying for?
