Dictionary of Marketing Terms: run charge
run charge
computer-service fee based upon jobs processed or file names passed. For example, a run charge for a list rental selection may be a fixed rate for the selection job or may be based upon the number of names on the file from which the selection was made. List rental agreements usually include a per name run charge that applies to any names for which a rental fee is not paid. For example, if the mailer agrees to pay a list rental fee for 70% of the names, a run charge is applied to the remaining 30%. This charge protects the list owner from the cost of running a very large file of which only a small portion is rented.
