rear-screen projection
- method of creating a background scene by projecting images behind a translucent screen; also called background plate, process screen, and rear projection. This method is commonly used in television and motion pictures. For instance, when filming a movie on a set, rear-screen projection would be used to project a moving background behind a stationary car to create the appearance of a car in motion.
- method of film or television projection where the projection apparatus is behind the projection screen.
