Definition of Newspaper Association of America

organization formed in 1992 as the result of a merger of a number of organizations including International Newspaper Advertising and Marketing Executives, American Newspaper Publishers Association, International Circulation Managers Association, and Newspaper Advertising Bureau. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the Association is primarily devoted to advancing the cause of a free press and ensuring that it has the economic strength to serve the American people. It provides services for members on all phases of the newspaper business and publishes materials on advertising and marketing, circulation and readership, technical services and research, telecommunications, literacy, and workforce diversity. Members consist of daily and nondaily newspapers in the Western Hemisphere, Europe, and the Pacific region. The headquarters office maintains a library of 5000 volumes on journalism, the newspaper business, and mass communications and operates a technical services and research facility for the benefit of members.
