Dictionary of Marketing Terms: local-channel station
local-channel station
broadcast station licensed by the Federal Communications Commission to broadcast over a limited area (e.g., a college radio or television station). A local-channel station has a maximum of 250 watts of power, which is just enough power to be heard or viewed within a short radius of the station's point of transmission. Local channels are assigned on an airwave that has been set aside for all local-channel stations.
