Dictionary of Finance and Investment Terms: little dragons
little dragons
nickname for developing Asian nations such as Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan that pose a threat to Japan (the Big Dragon) because of their lower labor costs, high productivity, and pro-business attitudes. Also known as the tigers. Called an "economic miracle" for most of the 1990s, the so-called Pacific Rim region lost its economic underpinnings in 1997, causing currencies and securities markets to plunge.
