keyline
- outline drawing used as a guide over finished artwork to show the position, shape, and size of the other elements that will appear in the layout. The keyline is sometimes referred to as the type mechanical.
- code placed on an order form or mailing label used to identify the customer and reduce the amount of information that must be entered to the fulfillment system. The keyline usually includes a matchcode and other control information, such as the expiration date of a magazine subscription.
