Dictionary of Computer and Internet Terms: dot pitch
dot pitch
the spacing of the dots of red, green, and blue phosphor on the screen of a color monitor.
The smaller the dot pitch, the sharper the image; 0.28 mm is generally considered satisfactory, and anything higher than 0.35 mm is too blurry for serious work. Monochrome screens do not have dots, and their dot pitch is effectively 0, making them sharper than even the best color screens.
