time interval from the present date to the maturity of a bond issue. Contrast with the original maturity, which is the time difference from the issue date to the scheduled maturity date.

current maturity
interval between the present time and the maturity date of a bond issue, as distinguished from original maturity, which is the time difference between the issue date and the maturity date. For example, in 2002 a bond issued in 2000 to mature in 2020 would have an original maturity of 20 years and a current maturity of 18 years.
