data base published by Investors Management Science Company, a subsidiary of Standard & Poor's Corporation. The Compustat tapes are comprehensive, containing 20 years of annual financial data for over 3000 companies. Each year's data for the industrial companies include over 120 balance sheet and income statement items and market data. There is also a file on utilities and banks. The annual file is updated weekly.
