Dictionary of Computer and Internet Terms: combine
combine
a drawing program command that merges two separate objects into one so that the whole thing can become one object. This is similar to grouping objects, but there is an important distinction. A group of objects can be treated as a single object, but the individual elements retain their separate attributes. A combined object is a single object; it has only one outline (or path) and only one fill. Interestingly, a combined object can have holes in it that you can see through.
