I probably don’t need tell you that small business owners are independent and service-oriented, but that was the conclusion of a one-year study of 22 million small business owners conducted by Discover Card. Their Small Business Watch reports that you are “motivated primarily by independence”, you’re service-oriented, and that you work long hours. Sounds familiar, right? The Discover Small Business Watch survey also concluded that you are concerned about healthcare costs and taxes. No surprises there.
I found this report via The Shop Floor, which excerpted some interesting statistics from the survey:
- 61 percent of small business owners say they wouldn’t give up their freedom in order to work for someone else, even for more money.
- 67 percent of consumers think small business owners give better service than large businesses.
And how about this?
- 64 percent of small business owners say health care costs impact their company’s ability to grow.
Not news to you, I’m sure, but it’s good to be acknowledged.
