This is the first entry of a regular series of entries I will be posting on How-To tips and features on self-publishing as well as entrepreneurial publishing. It’s a big new brave world out there in self-publishing and there are tons of books that were self-published that are garnering traction in the click and mortar world and the brick and mortar world.
Do you have a great idea for a book? Are you in a niche as an established expert? Do you want to reach out to possible customers in a powerful way? Then self-publishing your business book might be a great way to start.
Naysayers will tell you that self-publishing is not profitable, you’ll never get a book in the brick and mortar bookstores, and you’ll end up losing your shirt. But in homage to one of my favorite movies, I will say that’s Old School!
And on that note, it’s also a good time to take a look at the option of entrepreneurial publishing and how it is pushing the boundaries of publishing.
So look for these posts to start you on your journey to publishing that best-selling business book you’ve always aimed to write. Look for interviews of successful authors who did the self-publish route. And for upcoming authors who are taking the entrepreneurial publishing route as well.
For now, here’s a good site to start your self-publishing journey with PMA – The Independent Publishers Association. This association is outstanding in its support and efforts for independent publishers.
The link offers up great articles on self-publishing and I hope I’ll be able to feature an interview with the folks at PMA in an upcoming post.
And any of you self-published business authors out there, please send me an e-mail about your book and your experiences to share with the readers.
Remember the sky’s the limit if you just put paper to pen, or in this digital world, it might be better said, “Put digits to keyboard.”
Now start typing!
