How do you spend the time on various tasks and projects associated with your Home Based Business? In this blog post, I talked about and gave an example of a time eater for me and the way I forced myself to face up to it by using a timer.
You could manage your time by setting up a schedule and then saying “I’ll work on Task X from 9am to 10am”. The problem is, you just might get interrupted. And Task X only gets 30 minutes of your time rather than the hour you had planned. Or maybe you get interrupted so many times that you loose track of how much time you actually spent on Task X. Sound familiar?
Working with a timer let’s you deal with interruptions better and allows you to pause your task. Decide you want to spend 2 hours on Task X and then start your timer. When an interruption comes up or you need a break, pause the timer. Don’t forget to re-start it when you resume working.
A timer really helps me to focus on one thing when other things are tugging at my attention. What about you? Do timers help or inhibit?
