Yahoo Search Marketing is taking a page from Google Adwords it appears. If you are paying for ‘Pay Per Click’ advertising at Yahoo, you’ll want to note this upcoming change:
Starting in the next several weeks, the minimum bids for a number of Sponsored Search keywords will no longer be fixed at $.10. Your new minimum bids can be lower or higher than $.10. Content Match minimum bids currently will remain at $.10. This update is intended to align your minimum bids with the value and quality of your keywords. It also is designed to help improve the overall search user experience by rewarding advertisers for better quality with lower entry points into keyword markets.
Content Match refers to Yahoo! ads that appear in places other than the Yahoo! search engine results. For example, if you’re selling floral arrangements and you choose content match, your ad can appear on any number of websites relating to floral arrangements (or whatever keywords you are targeting). It’s similar to Google’s ‘Content Network’ in Adwords.
Sponsored Search is the classic “pay per click” advertising that appears above and alongside search engine results pages in Yahoo! Here it looks like they are finally going with the quality score concept, where your ads will be rewarded with lower per-click costs when your ad proves itself of suitable quality. If you use Yahoo! Search Marketing in your home based business, make sure you get yourself up to date on these changes. You can read more about the upcoming changes at the Yahoo! FAQ linked below.
