Okay, I will admit it: Organization is not my strength!
I try. I really do. I’m just too right brained (or at least that is my excuse!)
Organizing things for me is not just a one time shot. I can come up with a plan that might work, but then I have to make sure I stick with that plan.
I should be the queen of lists and schedules, and I go this route from time to time but then stray. So, my goal for this year is to become more organized, and not just to come up with these organizational ideas and plans but to follow them through as well.
These are the top things I plan to do to remain more organized when it comes to work and family. I would love your ideas and suggestions-things that have worked, things that haven’t-that help you organize your time wisely. As we know, working and taking care of a family are both full time jobs-when you are doing both, you have to stay on top of the game!
- Make some lists! I have a pad of paper by the phone now on which I will list the things that I need to buy and the things that I need to do each day. This includes phone calls, appointments, groceries, stamps, and others. I will check off each item as it is done/purchased so I know that I have accomplished my goals for that day and I will go through that list at the end of the night to make sure it has all been done.
- Though I like things cleaned, I do not have an organized plan for doing so, and sometimes I will realize that I haven’t swept up the office or dusted the back bedroom for a week because I don’t use those rooms on a regular basis. So, this week I am devising a schedule for cleaning, which will hang on the fridge. I will list those rooms I need to clean on a daily basis-ie: Monday, sweep all floors and clean the office; Tuesday, clean the two back bedrooms; Wednesday, bathrooms and bed clothes – you get the picture. This way I can glance at the calendar and see what needs to be cleaned and what I need to do for that day.
- I’m going to use my planner, I’m going to use my planner, I’m going to use my planner. I have one. I write on it from time to time, but it is not consistent. Now it is by the phone, because I’m going to use my planner!
- I’m meeting with a tax guy on Saturday to help better organize my company. I need a better way of keeping track of expenses, and I”m hoping for some great business tips from him.
What are you doing to keep your time organized this week?
