One common misconception about starting a Home-Based business is that it will free up a lot of time. Two common driving goals of a home-based business plan are to spend more time with the family and to create a better a work and life balance.
These goals can create something of a conflict, especially at first. In the first few years, a home based business can be extremely time consuming and there may actually be less free time. Home Business owners often find that they have less free time than when they were working at a 9 to 5 job. But unless you can plan to spend a lot of time with your home business, it will be difficult to grow it into an independent business.
While in the long term, you will want that ‘time on the beach’, be realistic and expect that it won’t come right away. Keep those goals in your long term planning, but be prepared to make a lot of short term sacrifices for a home based business.
