There continues to be an unprecedented interest in home based business or at least in making money from home in the spare time. The current state of the economy could be creating a ‘perfect storm’ for more people than ever moving into and succeeding in their home based business ventures.
First of all, it’s no secret that business closures and layoffs are at a much higher level now than they were just one year ago. People who are put out of work are having increasing difficulty finding jobs to replace the one they lost (or at least finding ones with a sustainable salary). Rather than settle for any old “McJob”, this has caused more people to consider starting their own home business.
Secondly this recession seems to be digging deeper than prior economic downturns. Now the chopping block includes people who have never lost a job before and always thought they had some level of job security due to skill level or trade. Along with this group of people comes a lot of valuable experience and talent that could be used in self employed ventures.
Today’s tools such as email marketing and inexpensive voice broadcasting give new businesses a better chance at not only staying in business, but becoming competitive and profitable. Add to this the inherently low overhead of a home based business and I see a lot of interest ramping up here. So if you think these are ‘impossible times’ for business, I say think again!
