I’m angry with the Marriott Marquis hotel in downtown Atlanta. I’m so angry, in fact, that I’ve made several decisions about the hotels I will choose in the future as well as what amenities I will pay for when I get there.
Last week I spent three days and two nights attending a conference at the Marriottt Marquis. I also stayed there as a guest.
The source of my anger is their fee of $12.95 per night for Internet access. To me, that’s highway robbery. I’ve paid as much as $9.95 at other Marriotts, but I refuse to pay more than $10.00 per night.
Did you know that Internet access in Courtyard By Marriott is free in both their rooms and public areas?
Well, I’m not going to be victimized by Internet Superhighway robbery. Here’s what I’m going to do. First, when I travel to Atlanta and I have a choice, I will not choose that hotel.
Second, from now on, I’ll be borrowing the wireless Sprint Card assigned to one of my direct reports. No more paying for access in ANY hotel.
Jeez, I’m glad they don’t charge extra for the bathroom soap.
