eBay’s PowerSeller program is open by invite to any seller who sells more than $1000 per month over a 3 month period and maintains a 98% or better feedback record. What are the advantages if any, of being an eBay PowerSeller?
Aside from the recognition (a power seller logo), one big advantage is support. If you sell on eBay, you have almost no support available until you reach the PowerSeller level. eBay’s standard support is, well, just not very good. When you reach the PowerSeller level however, you will get dedicated PowerSeller support.
With each passing year, eBay’s rule sets have become more complex. It’s possible to violate one of their rules without being aware of it. Recently, eBay has implemented a “report this item” feature which basically allows anyone to flag anyone else’s auction or listing. I don’t think much of this feature because it allows anyone with an axe to grind to ruin someone else’s listing a for dubious and subjective reasons.
Without adequate support to explain your side of the story in such a scenario, your listings may be deactivated. As an eBay PowerSeller, you would have a channel to go through to appeal such things. So I see this as one compelling reason to strive for PowerSeller on eBay if you are serious about selling there for your home based business.
What about you? Do you sell on eBay and do you see advantages in being a PowerSeller?
