Since searching on the net is a necessary marketing function for most small business owners, I will occasionally be asked what search engine is the best. Well, like so many things in life, the answer is always, “it depends.”
Each of the major search engines do certain things very well. And then there is a whole new group of niche search engines that for the most part focus on doing one thing and only one thing.
For example, if you simply want to find information on several keywords, Google, Yahoo and MSN are good bets. But, let’s say you want to compare the results from different search engines, you could try Jux2 or Turbo Scout. Or maybe you want to find information on a certain word – check out the Online Etymology Dictionary.
Phil Bradley has put together an impressive search engine comparision chart that helps identify search engines for various needs. Have fun!
