I am off to the worldwide headquarters of inspiration-publisher Compendium, Inc to talk about one of their biggest selling books called, 5- Where Will You Be 5 Years From Today? written by Dan Zadra.
This is the great time of year for sellers & those wearing the “sales hat” – planning starts fresh at the beginning of the year so is a wonderful time for reflection.
Once the new year begins, we rapidly get into “check-off” mode – starting to mechanically work and “check-off” those things we said we’d begin or complete.
Knowing that you can alter your plan along the way is a good thing to keep in mind, since sometimes we get on the wrong track.
In selling, it can be like waiting for a train at the station, but headed in the wrong direction. You are doing the right thing, but in the wrong way.
Setting a short, medium, and longer-term plan will help with that direction you are headed. What do you think your business wil be five years from today? Get some strategic goals in place – for this year, and for a few years out. If you do, you’ll have a way to compare what you are actually doing with what you set out to do.
Post your comments – how far out do you look?
