Wal-Mart is seriously into social media, according to the Dec. 3 issue of the “Phil Lempert Supermarket Guru,” an online newsletter.
Lempert writes that Wal-Mart plans to engage female heads of households with its “Elevenmoms” blog, which provides tips on economizing and invites discussion.
And, according to Lempert, Wal-Mart posts videos about savings — from shoppers — on the Wal-Mart YouTube channel.
That isn’t all. The store will use moms as focus groups, and it will text — with permission from shoppers — price rollback alerts.
It all sounds quite modern. Furthermore, the concept is one other retailers ought to adapt and use.
