Remember the dotcom bubble? Us too. We loved everything about it. Kegs in the cubicle, office Nerf b’ball tournaments, salaries equal to the GNP of some island nations.
But there’s one thing we prefer about our current gig: no commute. Specifically, no commute with a double latte between the legs. (Who knew Ferraris don’t come with a cupholder?)
If only Dr. Robert Bohannon had been around back then. He could’ve saved our inner thighs a scalding or two.
Bohannon is the visionary behind Buzz Products, which has solved the hot-coffee problem by adding caffeine to donuts and bagels.
Now you might think this a simple process. But you’d be wrong. Caffeine is bitter. You can’t just stir it in with the donut batter or your morning treat tastes like a mouthful of old nickles.
So Bohannon, a molecular scientist in Durham, NC, came up with Encaff, a microcoating that renders caffeine tasteless. He’s already approached Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts and Krispy Kreme with his idea.
We’re sure they listened. After all, Bohannon has a long list of inventions to his credit, including a fuel cell for electric cars, an HIV test for saliva and a nanometer colloidal catalyst (we have no idea what that is but it sounds cool).
And now, his crowning achievement: the Buzz Donut and the Buzz Bagel. For these, doctor, we salute you.
But this is no time to rest on your laurels. Get to work on the Beer Pizza!
