What to monitor what’s being said about your business or industry? In a previous post I recommended “googling” your name and that of your business. Here’s another.
I use an application called PubSub, a tool that’s very popular with bloggers. It enables me to get real-time information on any keyword phrase I choose, which PubSub sets up as a subscription, then tracks on an ongoing basis. One of the subscriptions is to my name, another to the name of my business.
Here’s how it works: PubSub is a matching service that instantly notifies you when new content is created that matches your subscription. PubSub is able to read millions of data sources on your behalf and notify you instantly whenever a match is made.
Managing your reputation online is of increasing importance in this highly-networked world. Who’s to say that, at this very moment, one of your competitors, vendor, or even a prospective client is not using it to check you out. (By the way, you can use it to do the same thing, eavesdrop what’s being said about them.)
There are other tools I’ll be recommending that perform much the same function, but PubSub is one of the ones I use everyday and, as such, recommend it to you.
