Well, I’m back, kinda. If you didn’t miss me, all the better. But while I was away from the blog some nice things happened. Most importantly, Asher, our newest family member, came home–I’m pretty excited about that. I’m also pretty excited about my six weeks of family leave from work!
Slacker Manager hosted the Carnival of the Capitalists this week. I was looking forward to doing that, but was called away to pick up Asher. Thankfully, Rosa Say volunteered to do all the heavy lifting for the COTC on my behalf–what a lifesaver! Since the Carnival was one of the largest ever, it would have taken some significant time away from Asher and the family, so I’m tremendously grateful to Rosa for her help. Thanks again, Rosa!
Finally, just before leaving to get Asher, I learned that the publisher that’s been considering the ‘Slacker@Work’ book proposal decided to pass on it. That would’ve been more disappointing if my brain wasn’t already filled up with baby stuff. There’s always a bright side, though, and this one is especially nice. Chris Webb, who was the acquisition editor advocating for the book, was kind enough to go the extra step of introducing me to an agent who may help find the book a home. Oddly, not an hour after swapping emails with the agent, I received another unsolicited note from yet another publisher interested in the book. Crazy! So I’ll just keep on keepin’ on and see where this leads.
Because of the baby jive, posting will probably be a little light for the next week or so. But I’m carving out a little bloggy time, so it won’t be a total wasteland around here.
