Your website has been up and running for a while and you discover by browsing through your web statistics that you have a major typo on one page. It’s bringing you good search engine traffic because there are a ton of people out there who (apparently) can’t spell — just like you.
What do you do about it?
Should you a) leave it alone because it’s bringing you good traffic or b) fix the typo because you’re a perfectionist and you can’t stand typos.
Well, that depends. We all like to think that we’re perfect, but we’re not. And even with spell checkers we still make a slew of typos. You need to decide if this one error will affect your business reputation. If it will, by all means fix it.
If it doesn’t have that much bearing on your reputation, leave it alone. The internet wouldn’t be the internet without people (warts and all!). So there are going to be a few who will continue to misspell the word. You might as well enjoy the search engine traffic that it brings you and reap the benefits.
