It snuck up on me unawares, but today marks the two-year anniversary since I went full-time as a business blogger. (I had been blogging for a year at that point, starting in 2004.)
Two years ago I took my company, Radiant Marketing Group, full-time. Though the company started out as a full-service web design boutique, it quickly morphed into a business blog consultancy. (Part of the reason being I wasn’t a very good designer!)
For the first six months, I starved, then things began to take off. However, last July I got two offers I couldn’t refuse. One came from the lady who is now my wife, Amie, and the other from a business partner, Richard Nacht, who had started a company called Blogging Systems and, for some reason, thought I’d add some value. I’m still employed there, so maybe I do. Ha!
To say blogging has been good to me would be an understatement of tantamount proportions. Though I won’t take time to elaborate now, it literally changed the course of my life. There were times when I wondered if leaving the security of gainful employment for the world of entrepreneurship was a mistake…usually when the rent was due. But, looking back, I’d say it’s been a journey well worth the taking.
If you’re like I was, riding the fence about taking the leap of faith to start your own business, if it’s really in your heart to do it, let me share something a friend of mine said: “Leap, and the net will appear.” I did, and it did. The rest, as they say, is history!
