The government is giving us more incentive to save with some recently passed bills. Basically, the news bills get rid of sunset clauses on contributions to retirement accounts and college savings accounts.
The Roth provisions for the Roth 401(k) and the Roth IRA will no longer be set to expire in a few years; the tax benefits are now permanent.
Likewise, tax benefits for contributions to 529 college savings accounts will also be permanent, instead of sun setting in 2010. So, if you were hesitant about taking advantage of these savings opportunities, now is the time to move forward with your savings plans.
