I’m spending two days at the New Word of Mouth Marketing
Conference and it has been valuable being around so many experts from Apple,
comScore, and a host of others on the marketing /ROI aspects of social media
and social marketing.
The Donald’s Apprentice finalist, James Sun of Zoodango
gave the keynote kickoff. Once #2 on the Apprentice (California)TV show, Sun, who is a serial
entrepreneur talked about the impact of getting your message out virally — and this
certainly plays into your sales strategy.
Imagine a day when you have very few cold calls and more
people coming to you because of your clearly articulated message, with who you
serve and how you help them being spread virally.
Sun talked about the impact social marketing has had on
the political campaigns – really amazing when you think about the web presence
of politics four years ago – but not really viral. There were comparisons all
day to traditional marketing vs. viral marketing.
It was funny hearing about a conversation James had encouraging
Donald Trump to blog – Sun suggested
Trump blog himself – and mentioned that others do it for him. However a quick
look today shows The Donald writing a post here and there. That is progress!
More marketing, video, and brand building today so wil
report in on this tomorrow….. it just makes me wonder:
What is your organization doing to methodically strategize
on social media?
How are you doing this – are marketing generalists
involved or do you outsource to web specialists?
Is sales involved? How do sales and marketing work
together on this?
Post your thoughts
– as a comment or in an email to me and I’ll share them as requested.
