I’ve made the flight up to the pacific northwest maybe 10 times in my plane. There are basically two flight paths I take. If there is weather around I’ll take the valley route up the
If it is a clear, calm day and I have a few extra minutes (or a wide-eyed passenger), then I’ll take what I call the “volcano route”. It starts with
One of the meetings was with a current client, the purpose being to get an update on their performance and strategize on marketing of their company. This company is a group of young guys that have built a dynamic, technical company that uses the latest in software and lean engineering techniques to streamline their operation. It is an impressive company and we are hopeful we can help them sell for top dollar. They continue to grow in this very tough economic environment, and it is definitely hats-off to anyone that can do that.
The other company we visited was a more typical company that builds and supplies heavy equipment to commercial construction. Great company, but as you can imagine many contractors have cut back on their capital equipment purchases. Even if they are busy, they are more likely to beat their equipment into the ground before they buy new. Fortunately, this company also does parts and repair, and their parts and service revenue has grown substantially to the point it has almost made up for the drop in new equipment sales.
In all, it was a good fruitful trip. It’s a 3 hour plus flight back home and I really wanted to get back home that day, so Larry drove me straight to Boeing field and I departed after grabbing two cups of coffee in case I got tired during the flight. As you can imagine, even though I have an auto pilot, falling asleep is not an option. I keep a couple of military MRE food ration kits in my emergency kit, so I dug into one of those for dinner during the flight. Not an emergency, but I was pretty hungry. It actually isn’t bad, except it is very high calorie since it is obviously made for young warriors. I was bored enough though that I ate the entire thing.
