Although his name is Michael Jackson, the jeweler who waited on me for a simple repair was normal by most accounts — except for his stellar service – he made me feel comfortable and as if I was buying their most expensive ring in the store.
When I commented about what a surprise it was to be taken care of so well in a retail experience, Michael said, “I don’t care whether you spend $17 or $17,000 – I treat everyone the same.” He went on to say, “You never know what someone will buy over the course of time – so I just treat all customers the same.”
Words to live by. I had driven past this jewelry store maybe 100 times in the last two years….. never thought to stop in. When I did, it was for a repair – but it also opened my eyes to a wonderful new place to shop, where I know I will be welcome and comfortable every time I visit. Isn’t that what the perfect buying experience is all about?
