Election Day. No better time to reveal that the National Retail Federation (NRF) tracks and takes a stand on bills that impact the industry. Not only that, NRF keeps a tally on how your congressional delegation votes on issues that matter to retailers.
Among legislation of interest to retailers coming before Congress in 2005 was a bill concerning the minimum wage (NRF opposed); a bill placing limits on class action lawsuits (NRF supported); and a bankruptcy bill that required partial payment of debts (NRF supported).
You can go to the NRF Web site and check the retail scorecard of your representatives in Washington, D.C.
Meanwhile, don’t forget to vote today. Let us hope that everyone who wants to vote gets to vote, that all votes are recorded as voted, that all votes are counted and that good candidates are elected to conduct the people’s business.
